The three trade unions in their response rejecting the pay offer (which was for 1.75% increase from 1st April 2021) asked the National Employers to consider re-opening the negotiations to seek an improvement.
The employers have now met and considered this request carefully. The decision was made to reaffirm the offer as their full and final position.
They recognise the difficult climate in which local Government employees work but this is the limit of affordability that can be achieved and there is no prospect of it being increased.
They hope that the unions will accept the offer made so that staff in the sector can get the pay rise as soon as is practicable.
