Following Lis Moore’s decision not to stand for re-election as General Secretary of the ALCC trade union, an election will take place this autumn for her successor. The Association’s Committee has appointed Mi-Voice (Democracy Technology Ltd) to act as Independent Scrutineer on behalf of the ALCC as required by Section 49 of the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 with effect from 1st September 2018.
Nominations for General Secretary (an unpaid position with a five year term of office) will open on Monday 3rd September and Mi-Voice will be emailing all ALCC members notifying them of the procedure for making nominations.
Paying tribute to Lis Moore’s outstanding contribution to the successful establishment of the new trade union, ALCC Chairman, Lionel Thatcher said: “Lis, being our inaugural General Secretary, has not only had to undertake the ongoing work of a General Secretary, such as negotiating with NALC regarding our salaries and service conditions, but has had the burden of creating our Union, including ensuring the smooth transition of personal employment advice to members. Throughout this period, she has devoted a considerable amount of her time in working for us, the members of ALCC, and I am personally very grateful to her.”
